Samburu Game Reserve is amongst the best that Kenya has to offer. It has qualities that set it apart from other wildlife areas: spectacular geological formations, arid climate tempered by the "linear oasis" of the Ewaso Nyiro River, and diversity of wildlife not found elsewhere in East Africa.

The desolate expanses of Samburu are the home to the "northern species" - Reticulated Giraffe, Gerenuk, Beisa Oryx, Grevy's Zebra, and Somali Ostrich. These have adapted to the harsh conditions of the area, and are complemented by more common species which generally frequent the flood plain of the river, including elephant, lion, cheetah, leopard and many more. The backdrop of the "blue mountain", Ol Olokwe, which the Samburu tribe believes to be the grazing ground of God's cattle, enhances the wildlife drama even further.

Our camp will be set inside the park, in a peaceful grove along the Ewaso Nyiro River, where elephant are found bathing in the heat of the day, crocodiles slumber, and plains game come to quench their thirst. You will meet some Samburu tribesmen, experience their culture formed by the hardships of nomadic life, and enjoy the luxury of our camp, with its unique setting, gourmet food, comfortable tents and serene ambiance.

Samburu is a "must". No trip to East Africa is complete without a visit to this special place.
