When to Go
There is no bad time to go to Kenya.
The busiest times are generally January through February and July through August.
Make sure you book reservations well in advance for these times of year.
During January and February the weather is hot and dry.
As water sources begin to dry up, animals congregate around the remaining rivers and ponds.
This is also the time of year when the most birdlife congregates along the Rift Valley lakes.
From June to September the weather is also relatively dry.
Safaris are popular during these months due to the annual migration of the wildebeest into the Maasai Mara from the Serengeti.
March to May and October through early December are the rainy seasons.
Some roads may be impassable, but many hotels and lodges offer discounts.
If you like to avoid crowds, you may prefer these times of year.
Be prepared for afternoon rainstorms, particularly in the highlands and western parts of the country.
